THIS IS A HEALTH HAZARD SITUATION WHERE THERE IS A REASONABLE PROBABILITY THAT THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT CAN CAUSE ADVERSE HEALTH CONSEQUENCES. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
Just yesterday, Garden of Life LLC has issued a voluntary precautionary recall on one of their baby formulas, after finding that the product’s directions were mislabeled. Company officials are concerned that if not administered precisely in the manner recommended, the product may pose a choking hazard for children.
The product recalled, Baby Organic Liquid, is a liquid formula packaged in a blue carton that includes a measuring syringe. The label currently instructs parents to do the following:
“Do not insert syringe directly in mouth. Dispense liquid slowly into the mouth, toward the inner cheek. May be mixed with breast milk or formula.”
Garden of Life LLC is recalling this product in order to relabel it with new instructions, advising parents to only administer the formula by mixing in either breast milk OR formula, and advising parents not to administer it directly into the infant’s mouth.

The ingredients in Baby Organic Liquid are safe for infants. The company’s concern leading to this recall arose after learning that a parent had difficulties with the safe administration of the product into a newborn’s mouth. While no hospitalizations or similar injuries have occurred, the company is taking this issue very seriously and taking all necessary precautions in an abundance of caution.
Garden of Life is asking any customers who purchased Baby Organic Liquid to return the product to their store of purchase for a full refund.
Baby Organic Liquid is only sold in the USA, and is typically found at health food stores and natural grocers such as Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. If any consumer wishes to return the product, they may return the unused portion back to the store where they purchased it in the first place.
This recall affects all lots of Organic Baby Liquid, which includes the following:
