LIFELONG DEMOCRAT Alan Dershowitz is ready to leave the party – HERE’S WHY

Alan Dershowitz

If you thought the Democratic party couldn’t sink any lower after the fall elections, think again. Things are only getting worse, highlighted by a promise from lifelong Democrat Alan Dershowitz to leave the party because he is troubled by their recent moves.

Prominent liberal civil rights attorney Alan Dershowitz is promising to leave the Democratic party if Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) is elected chair. Citing Ellison’s “sordid association with anti-Semitism” and his Muslim-inspired treatment of women, Dershowitz made his feelings clear in a column published on The Hill.com.

In this excerpt from the column, Dershowitz delivers his ultimatum.

There has been powerful push from the hard-left of the Democratic Party, led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), to elect Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) chairman. If he is elected, I will quit the party after 60 years of loyal association and voting. I will become an independent, continuing to vote for the best candidates, most of whom, I assume, will still be Democrats. But I will not contribute to the DNC or support it as an institution.

My loyalty to my country and my principles and my heritage exceeds any loyalty to my party. I will urge other like-minded people — centrist liberals — to follow my lead and quit the Democratic Party if Ellison is elected chairman. We will not be leaving the Democratic Party we have long supported. The Democratic Party will be leaving us!

Ellison as Democratic chair would fracture the party

Dershowitz has been highly critical of the Democratic party in recent years. Despite being a die-hard liberal, Alan Dershowitz has taken a stand against the Democrat’s hard left turn on Israel and Muslim extremism. He was one of the few Democrats who spoke out against President Obama’s treatment of Israel. He has also been critical of the pandering to Islam by Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the Democrats.

In this interview with Trish Regan on Fox Business, Dershowitz says the party will lose “lots of Democrats” if Ellison takes charge. He said Ellison was the “worst possible choice” for chair. He says that Ellison is so toxic to mainstream America, Republicans would hand pick him if they wnated to bring down the Democratic party.

The Democrats vote today on their new chair.
