Look who compared the Boy Scouts to ‘Hitler Youth’ after Trump’s speech

President Trump attended the Boy Scouts’ National Scout Jamboree in West Virginia this week, where thousands of scouts assembled to celebrate the century-old organization. Liberals didn’t exactly earn merit badges for their response to his appearance.

While the President’s highly political speech raised eyebrows on both sides of the political aisle, some on the left chose to attack the Boy Scouts themselves, portraying them in the ugliest way possible.

Leftists were immediately triggered when Trump attacked former President Obama, leading to a round of cheers from the audience. To retaliate, some took to Twitter to compare the Boy Scouts to the “Hitler Youth” of Germany in the late 1930s. At least a couple were semi-famous.

Fox News reports on the speech.

Besides lauding Scouts’ values, Trump blasted his predecessor and made other highly partisan comments. Throughout the speech, the boys gave him frequent enthusiastic applause.

Criticism from across the political spectrum focused on the partisan tone of the speech, and the group’s leadership even issued a statement distancing itself from Trump’s comments.

The Boy Scouts of America “is wholly non-partisan and does not promote any one position, product, service, political candidate or philosophy. The invitation to visit the National Jamboree is a long-standing tradition and is in no way an endorsement of any political party or specific policies,” the BSA statement said.

But while there was bipartisan criticism of Trump for injecting politics into the Boy Scouts meeting, some on the left also ridiculed the Scouts themselves for cheering Trump.

Here is Michael Moore’s response, which is exactly what you would expect from him.

And then there was Nancy Lee Grahn, an actress on the soap opera General Hospital. That show actually is still on the air, in case you were wondering.

Grahn turned up the soap opera dramatics level to 11 with this tweet.

If you’re wondering if these folks said anything negative about President Obama’s speech to the National Scout Jamboree, the answer is: they didn’t.

That is because, during his eight years as President, Obama never once attended the event in person.
