A New York City private school is teaching students that white children are born racist, as part of a diversity curriculum to students aged three to thirteen. The person behind it is a Harvard-educated social justice warrior who has spent her life pushing a white privilege agenda mixed with a helping of minority victimization.
The Bank Street School, is an elite college preparatory school in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. They charge $40,000 a year to indoctrinate the children of the New York City elite in race-based progressivism. Their “College of Education” (in the same building and often utilizing the same faculty) offers classes to graduate students on assorted subjects and release white papers on educational subjects, including one entitled “Queering Education.”
As part of their diversity curriculum, the school segregates children by race and tells them the things they believe their race needs to hear. Minority students are told they have been oppressed by the white majority, and should voice their feelings on that oppression. White students are told that they are born with an inherent racial bias and have a privilege over minority students.
“Kids are coming home in tears, saying, “I’m a bad person.” Another young girl is seen confessing on video “I feel guilty for having a privilege I don’t deserve.””
The person behind this, Anshu Wahi, is an Indian-American who served as director of diversity at Bank Street from 2013 until last month, when she left to take a similar position at another elite private school. She created the racially-based, anti-white “diversity training” used on young students at the school, and trains teachers at other schools to use it as well.
The Activist Mommy provides more details on how the training treats young children.
“For part of their curriculum, students are segregated into separate classes. White kids are taught to raise their “awareness of the prevalence of Whiteness and privilege,” challenge assumptions of ‘normal,’ ‘good,’ and ‘American’” and “understand and own European ancestry and see the tie to privilege.” In a separate room, black kids are encouraged to “voice their feelings” and “share experiences about being a kid of color.””
Even The New York Post exposed the school, saying it “teaches students as young as 6 that they’re born racist and should feel guilty benefiting from ‘white privilege.”
“Under Bank Street’s “Racial Justice and Advocacy” curriculum, parents say, teachers push white kids to grapple with America’s history of racism. Then they indoctrinate them into thinking “systemic racism” still exists, and that they’re part of the problem and must hold themselves accountable even for acts of racism committed by others.”
This isn’t the first time Wahi’s actions angered parents. In 2013, she wrote a memo to parents that many complained were sympathetic to the Boston Marathon bombers. Earlier this year, she showed students a documentary giving a positive portrayal of the Black Panthers, including showing cop-kiler Huey Newton as a martyr for the cause.
After the Post exposed Wahi, the school announced in late July she would not return for the current school year. Anshu Wahi now works at The Northwest School in Seattle, another progressive private school. Their slogan: “We’re All Students. We’re All Teachers.”
