Conservatives have long considered Planned Parenthood to be the great Hitler of our generation. The murder of around 60 million unborn in the United States is the price that the next generation has paid since Roe v. Wade was passed, and people are still defending the practice.
Defunding Planned Parenthood has been a centerpiece of the Republican party platform for years. While efforts to do so always seem to stall, pro-life advocates now pin their hopes on defunding through the repeal and replacement of Obamacare.
Until that happens, however, the ideological battle over abortion continues. The pro-life movement is using pure science and logic to establish that a “fetus” is, in fact, a complete human being. Even if the science didn’t win people over, the advent of things like 4D ultrasounds should show that these aren’t blobs of tissues, they’re tiny little humans, fighting for a chance to live. Now, even pro-choice advocates, including Planned Parenthood, are now having to concede that fact.
Mary Elizabeth Williams of Salon.com admitted that an unborn baby is a human being, and yet refused to yield her pro-choice position. She even penned a column titled “So what if abortion is murder?” which didn’t even raise an eyebrow among the liberal left. Comments made by a Planned Parenthood lobbyist, however, was shocking even among abortion supporters.
There used to be some doubt among those not in the medical profession that maybe people were just buying what the abortion industry was selling, and that they still didn’t know. Maybe there was a disconnect in realizing the viability of the unborn. That argument, however, is now null and void because of what became abundantly clear when President Bush had to make a law called the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act in 2002. The whole crux of the abortion industries argument was that the baby wasn’t alive until they were born, but then we found out that they were still being killed, even after being born alive.
So that protection act was a good thing (ya know, like all laws against murder, are a good thing) but apparently, not everyone got the memo. Or maybe they got the memo and just thought it wasn’t a viable memo so they ripped off its limbs and collapsed its skull. Either way, Planned Parenthood is still arguing that when a baby is born alive, it’s the mother’s prerogative as to whether it should live.
Here, Alisa LaPolt Snow, a former Associated Press and Gannett reporter who now lobbies for the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates, argued in 2013 that a baby born alive due to a botched abortion should be allowed to die if the mother wants it. She was campaigning against the state’s H.B. 1129, the Infants Born Alive Act, which gave abortion victims born alive the same protections as any other human being.
The acceptance of this kind of behavior is absolutely reprehensible. Even if morality isn’t an issue at all, as Americans, we cling to the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as one of our most basic tenets of our country. In fact, if you’ll recall, the actual quote begins with “we hold these truths to be self-evident” meaning that you should know this, it’s something that should go without saying.
Sadly, either from a complete disregard for the sanctity of human life, or just the desire to make a few extra bucks, Planned Parenthood is trying to desensitize people to killing their own children. They’ve been doing it for decades, but there’s no deniability at this point. They can no longer fall back on any of their previous excuses; they’re murderers, killing already born babies.
The question that we as Americas have to ask is whether this country doesn’t believe that abortion is wrong because they believe the facts back that up, or is it because they can’t deal with the continuances. If the entire country woke up tomorrow and suddenly realized that abortion = murder, what would be the fall out be? To put it in perspective; the deadliest terror attack to ever take place on American soil was, of course, 9/11/2001 and just shy of 3,000 people died. It was awful, but now multiply that awful by 20,000 and that’s how many defenseless infants we’ve killed. At this point, Americans are so covered in blood, that we seem to be willing to let the killing continue just so we don’t have to admit that we’re partly to blame.
