ALERT – PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

THIS IS A HEALTH HAZARD SITUATION WHERE THERE IS A REASONABLE PROBABILITY THAT THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT CAN CAUSE ADVERSE HEALTH CONSEQUENCES. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

The Organic Consumer’s Association has just released a controversial new report, finding that glyphosate, a dangerous herbicide linked to cancer, is in at least 10 of the most popular Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavors.

Most people do not associate herbicide to ice cream, but the chemical is not limited to just vegetables. In this case, the herbicide has been linked to the feed used to nourish the dairy cows which produce milk for Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

If you experience any of the symptoms of glyphosate poisoning, please consult a primary care physician or urgent care clinic.

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Blood in urine
  • Respiratory failure

Waiting too long to treat glyphosate poisoning could worsen the situation and lead to more serious health consequences.

It should be noted that the glyphosate contamination is not related to any other ice cream products. The herbicide has been linked corn and soy used to feed Ben and Jerry’s dairy cows. Their milk was then contaminated, and was later used to make Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

Organic Consumers Association reports:

The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) today reported that 10 of 11 samples of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream tested positive for glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, or AMPA, glyphosate’s main metabolite, or both.

OCA is calling for Ben & Jerry’s, a Vermont-based subsidiary of Unilever, to begin an immediate transition to using only organic ingredients, including milk, in its products or face a national and international consumer boycott.

The groups also call on natural and organic food stores to drop the Ben & Jerry’s brand unless the company commits to transitioning to organic.

OCA International Director Ronnie Cummins said: “Ben & Jerry’s falsely advertises its products as ‘natural’ and its brand as ‘sustainable’ and ‘socially responsible.’ Nothing could be further from the truth.

“Ben & Jerry’s profits are built on the back of an industrial dairy system that poisons the environment and produces pesticide-contaminated food products. Ben & Jerry’s sales, driven in large part by its deceitful claims, damage the organic industry by cutting into the sales of authentic natural, grass-fed and organic producers.”

In March 2015, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer classified glyphosate as a “probable carcinogen.” On July 7California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) added glyphosate to its Prop 65 list of chemicals known to cause cancer.

report published January 2017, in the journal Nature, linked low doses of glyphosate to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, suggesting that there is no “safe” level of glyphosate despite otherwise indicated by regulatory agencies.

The products which have been contaminated with glyphosate have not been recalled, despite posing a risk to consumer health. Pictured below are the products that tested positive for the deadly herbicide:

Here is a full list of the following flavors, pictured above, which tested positive for glyphosate:

  • Peanut Butter Cup
  • Vanilla (2 flavors tested)
  • Phish Food
  • The Tonight Dough
  • Peanut Buttah Cookie Core
  • Half Baked
  • Chocolate Fudge Brownie
  • Americone Dream
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

The test was conducted by an independent laboratory, and out of 11 samples tested, only one came back negative for glyphosate and/or AMPA—Cherry Garcia. A summary of the test results can be made available by request.

Some have suggested that glyphosate is not as dangerous as it’s being made out to be, claiming that consumers would have to eat enormous amounts of ice cream to pass the FDA safe-levels of glyphosate. However, many health professionals disagree.

‘Based on these government thresholds, the levels found in Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream would seem totally irrelevant,’ Fagon told the Times.

But the OCA is advising Ben & Jerry’s, whose brand is known for environmental advocacy, to transition to using only organic ingredients, including milk, in its products. The organization is urging natural and organic food stores to halt sales of Ben & Jerry’s products until the brand does so.

While not every single Ben and Jerry’s product was tested, it is recommended that you boycott the brand immediately. Consumers who have purchased these contaminated products are advised not to consume them, due to potential adverse health effects of glyphosate poisoning.

Consumers can contact Ben and Jerry’s Consumer Services at 802-846-1500 for additional information from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. For product reimbursement, consumers can visit the Ben and Jerry’s Contact Page and file a complaint via email.

This is extremely important information and we urge you to share this with your friends and family. God bless.
