Austin City Council RENAMES Columbus Day – What They Change it to Will INFURIATE You

Austin columbus day renamed

Liberals have become obsessed with erasing American heritage and culture over the past year, and unfortunately the liberal hub of Texas has caved into pressure. What was once a day of celebration, and of honoring the European man who discovered this country, has now been eradicated…and named after something else.

Austin has joined the movement to marginalize and erase Columbus Day, believing that a little political correctness will somehow change history.

Years of liberal brainwashing in this country has led to anti-American sentiment being at an all time high. You can hardly go 10 minutes without having leftist propaganda shoved down your throat—it’s in the movies, it’s in the music industry, and it’s even in our children’s schoolbooks.

It should come as no surprise then that liberals have been determined to destroy American history, in a rather 1984-esque fashion. They’ve already gotten local governments to tear down Civil War statues, and have vandalized countless federal monuments. Now however, they’re stooping even lower.

“Columbus Day,” which is meant to honor Christopher Columbus, the Italian man who discovered America in 1492, is now being branded as “racist,” because you know, it honors the man who found our country. So in place of it, the Austin City Council has decided to add an “Indigenous Peoples Day,” because apparently just living here is more honorable than discovering a whole new land.

Statesman Reports:

Columbus Day is no more in the corridors of City Hall.

The Austin City Council on Thursday voted to replace the holiday with Indigenous Peoples Day, a holiday that celebrates Native Americans.

Columbus Day is a federal holiday, so it has not been eradicated, but interim City Manager Elaine Hart did say city calendars will no longer refer to the holiday named for Christopher Columbus.

The vote was 9-1-1, with Council Member Ellen Troxclair against and Council Member Alison Alter abstaining.

“We have a saying that Columbus didn’t discover America, he was lost,” Council Member Sabino “Pio” Renteria said. This is what happens when you elect liberal lunatics into office; they slowly start erasing our history and replacing it with ridiculous egalitarian dates to honor everyone just for existing.

The only member of the city council who voted against erasing American history was Ellen Troxclair (Twitter handle @EllenforAustin), while another chose to abstain. It’s clear that the Austin City Council is filled with complete idiots who are okay with destroying our country’s culture and eradicating our past.

The liberal dummies also voted on Thursday to locate every single Confederate monument in Austin, and to research how they may be removed. It was approved without any discussion, something which many Americans are furious about—should we not discuss the preservation of our culture?

Unfortunately, this hatred towards America isn’t an isolated incident. Austin has followed multiple other cities, such as Seattle, Denver, Albuquerque, and Los Angeles, in renaming Columbus Day. It’s clear that liberalism in this country is completely out of control, and it’s time for us to voice our opinions.

The members of Austin City Council can be contacted via their official page if you’d like to give them a piece of your mind. Please refrain from threats or violence, but let your voice be heard—this erasure of our history must NOT proceed, and we must do everything in our power to get these idiots out of office.

If you’re FURIOUS that these America-hating liberals are re-naming Columbus Day, please give this Austin Columbus Day article a share. Thank you and God bless!
