Tim Allen has always been one of the more outspoken voices in Hollywood, and he has something to say about how his industry treats Donald Trump.
Few conservative actors have made their political views known and not suffered consequences. Most are blacklisted or marginalized, but Allen is the exception. The iconic star of “Home Improvement” and Toy Story has flourished, even though the liberal Hollywood establishment despises him. His latest show for ABC, “Last Man Standing,” is a solid hit for the network. He’s even nominated for a People’s Choice Award.
In an exclusive interview on The Kelly File on Fox News, Allen told Megyn Kelly that he’s tired of the hypocrisy of Hollywood liberals toward conservatives.
“They didn’t like Trump because he was a bully, but if you side with Trump, you were bullied for doing that. It gets a little hypocritical to me,” Allen said.
Even though the writing staff on his ABC show “Last Man Standing,” are all liberals, Allen’s character is an unashamed conservative. The show also pokes fun at liberals and Barack Obama with regularity.
“I take a larger view. I don’t like government telling me what to do,” he said. Allen favors smaller government, and feels Trump is the only one who can do that. He does, however, have reservations about some of Trump’s proposals that seems to support more infrastructure spending and no cuts to entitlements.
While he does support Donald Trump, he says he cannot defend everything he says. He says his poorly-worded statements that cause controversy remind him of comedians who have good material but terrible timing.
