Democrats haven’t had much to celebrate lately, so they’re doing all they can to scare up enthusiasm. Even if it means reassigning someone’s race.
Tuesday night, Gina Ortiz Jones won her primary race and will now face Republican Rep. Will Hurd in Texas’ 23rd Congressional District.
If elected to Congress, she will be the first lesbian and first Iraq War veteran to represent Texas. However, when the Democratic Party was celebrating her win last night, they tweeted out congratulations – and bragged that she is Latina.
There’s just one problem with that. Jones is not Latina. She’s Filipino-American, which means they were about three thousands miles off in getting her race right.
After someone pointed out their boneheaded blunder, the Democratic Party deleted the tweet and posted a new one, this time only mentioning that she is female.
How’s that identity politics working out for you, Democrats?
To win the primary, Jones defeated an ACTUAL LATINO – Rick Trevino.
Here’s a screenshot of the tweet the Democrats sent out initially.
My favorite thing about @TheDemocrats is when they congratulated Gina Ortiz last night.
Once they realized she is not a Latina they deleted this gem.

Even worse, the Democrats left off her complete name, dropping the “Jones,” so she could appear more “ethnic.” We see you, Democrats.
Jones claimed she decided to give up her civil service job and run for Congress because she was frustrated and “horrified” by what she saw the Trump administration doing.
Here is the corrected tweet sent out by the Democrats. This one just proclaimed “The Future is Female!”
