A police officer in Nogales, Arizona was shot and killed by a suspected carjacker who used an AK-47.
Officer Jesus Cordova had pulled over the suspect after a 911 call reported a carjacking Friday afternoon. The suspect reportedly emerged from his car with an AK-47 after being pulled over. He opened fire on Officer Cordova, who was transported to a local hospital and later died.
Police pursued the suspect, who led them on a chase through the city, opening fire on them several times. At one point, the chase led to the U.S./Mexico border, but it is unclear if the suspect tried to hop the border to escape. He eventually surrendered to police.
The suspect has been identified as David Ernesto Murillo. No other details are known.
A police officer from the border town of Nogales, Arizona, was shot and killed Friday, with what law enforcement believe was an AK-47, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
The suspect is believed to have car-jacked a vehicle before shooting the Nogales Police Department officer who pulled him over, the source said. The consensus among law enforcement at this time is that the suspect used an AK-47 to shoot the NPD officer, according to the source.
The suspect proceeded to steal at least two more vehicles and led multiple law enforcement agencies on an extended manhunt before he was captured Friday evening, the source said.
State, federal and local law enforcement were all involved in the manhunt, the source said. The suspect at one point led authorities to the Mariposa point of entry, before stealing a vehicle and driving off once again, the source said.
The suspect fired at law enforcement each time he ran into officers, the source said, before eventually ditching his weapon and surrendering to law enforcement.

Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, a Marine veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, was killed in 2010 by illegal aliens using an AK-47 style rifle in a gun walking scandal known as Fast and Furious. The scandal ended in the resignation of a Department of Justice attorney and a contempt of Congress charge for then-Attorney General Eric Holder.
