White House

Within the past few minutes, the Secret Service announced that a car attempted to ram a security barrier outside of the White House in Washington, D.C.

This is a developing story.

According to tweets from the Secret Service, a woman tried to ram a security barrier at the intersection of 17th Street and E Street, a short distance from the White House. The Secret Service says the woman was apprehended. The car, a white minivan, did not get past the barrier and did not enter the White House complex.

Initial reports say the President was at the White House at the time. His status is not clear at this time.

The location is close to the Treasury Building, Fox News reported.

Initial reports from Fox News says the ramming was intentional, and was committed by a woman with mental issues. It does not appear that the woman was attempting to attack the White House or the President.

Reportedly, no law enforcement personnel were injured in the incident.

Traffic in the area remains shut down as authorities continue to investigate.
