Democrats aren’t just after President Donald Trump – they are after his kids as well.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) wants the House intelligence committee conducting the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 elections to interview Ivanka Trump. Schiff has questions after he learned she spoke with individuals who sat in on the infamous Russian meeting at Trump Tower prior to the election.
Democrats appear to be implying that Ivanka may have some inside information, or worse, may be hiding something.
The top Democrat of the House intelligence committee has said he wants to interview Ivanka Trump as part of the Russia probe – after it was revealed she had contact with two participants of a meeting with Russian representatives as they left Trump Towers.
Democrat representative Adam Schiff said on Thursday that the Republicans had failed to invite a number of valuable witnesses to the probe.
This included Ivanka Trump and several people who he says have additional information about the June 2016 meeting between Russians and the Trump campaign.
At the Trump Tower meeting, several Trump campaign officials met with Russian operatives on the promise of receiving damaging information about Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton.
The meeting came to the attention of congressional investigators and special counsel Robert Mueller.
Ivanka Trump reportedly spoke to two of the meeting’s participants they made their way out, The Los Angeles Times said last week.
‘There are witnesses who have knowledge of the Trump Tower meeting and what it was about prior to the meeting that have not been brought before our committee,’ Schiff said.
‘I think that if there’s credible information that Ivanka Trump had contact with any participants in that meeting, at the time of the meeting, that she should be brought in,’ Schiff said.
‘She may have more valuable insights on a variety of other issues as well.’
Schiff said the committee has interviewed a total of 56 witnesses, less than half of the number of witnesses the Senate intelligence committee has interviewed in its own investigation into Russian interference and whether the Trump campaign was involved.
Critics say Schiff is merely creating more dramatic political theater, by attempting to parade Ivanka in front of television cameras on Capitol Hill.
Neither the White House nor Ivanka herself have commented on the possibility of providing testimony.
