Breaking: Evacuation Under Way Below Orovillle Dam in California – LIVE FEED

Nearly 200 thousand residents in California were given little to no time, only 1 hour, to evacuate their homes before the Orville Dam failed earlier today.

At about 6:30 a breaking news report from fox said about 60-100K residents could be effected downhill of the water and that there could very likely be flash flooding.

Massive destruction can be seen in the pictures, baffling inspectors to send out the alarm as quickly as possible. The  auxiliary spillway  had broken making it impossible to contain the water for now.

Residents were only informed at 4:42pm Feb, 12 2017. It gave them only an hour to evacuate before the dam was expected to fail.

According to LA Times “The National Weather Service said the auxiliary spillway at the Oroville Dam was expected to fail by 5:45 p.m., which could send an “uncontrolled release of flood waters from Lake Oroville.”

The local sheriff’s office posted an update on their facebook page letting residents that it was a serious threat:

“A hazardous situation is developing with the Oroville Dam auxiliary spillway. Operation of the auxiliary spillway has led to severe erosion that could lead to a failure of the structure. Failure of the auxiliary spillway structure will result in an uncontrolled release of flood waters from Lake Oroville. In response to this developing situation, DWR (Department of Water Resources) is increasing water releases to 100,000 cubic feet per second.

Immediate evacuation from the low levels of Oroville and areas downstream is ordered.”

According to NBC BayArea “The potential impact would be all the way to Marysville–Yuba City and Beale Air Force Base”.

Please be safe if you are down wind from the dam and take this evacuation seriously. Please be sure to share this with anyone who might be effected.

I guess this is what Trump was talking about when he said our infrastructure is failing rapidly and needs to be invested in big league.
