ORIGINAL STORY: A short time ago, Highline College sent out alerts via its social media accounts of gunfire on campus. Students were told to take shelter, while the school went into lockdown.
The incident comes jut two days after a mass shooting at a school in Florida left 17 dead.
On the school’s social media page, one student said the neighborhood surrounding the college has had several shooting instances in recent weeks, so this report may be spillover from the community, and not at the school itself. This, however, is unconfirmed.
Highline College is about 17 minutes south of Seattle in Des Moines, Wash. It has about 17,000 students and was founded in 1961 as the first community college in King County.
