WATCH ANTIFA Attack Trump Supporters at Sunday’s Berkeley Protest (VIDEO)

A left-wing rally against “white supremacy” at Berkeley turned violent today, after ANTIFA members began attacking Trump supporters, who showed up as part of a counter-protest. Media reports say Trump supporters are being beaten in the streets, as police do little to intervene. Even members of the media are being targeted.

According to a tweet by reporter Lizzie Johnson of the San Francisco Chronicle, “Police in #Berkeley have retreated to the station and the northern streets at Civic Center Park.” This has left the much larger ANTIFA crowd to openly go after and assault Trump supporters, with no one to intervene. “The ‘they’ I am mentioning in my tweets is antifa. Hard to know who is behind the masks,” Johnson said in another tweet.

Incredibly, media sources are reporting that those being arrested by police are often right-wing protesters, not ANTIFA. reports.

Police detained Patriot Prayer leader Joey Gibson at the protests. The SFGate reported he was handcuffed after being chased by a mob of demonstrators who took swings at him and pepper sprayed him.

Around 2:30 p.m., thousands of protesters streamed out of Civic Center Park and started marching north on Martin Luther King Way, police said.

About 4,000 people converged at the park as clashes broke out between right-wing and left-wing groups, police said.

“We have received reports of several fights breaking out,” police said in a statement Sunday afternoon. “As a reminder, please separate yourself from any violence so that police can direct their resources as needed.”

The event is one of several rallies that had been called for Sunday in Berkeley, a day after a controversial freedom rally planned by Gibson in San Francisco fizzled amid throngs of counterprotesters.

Here is video from various media sources and people on the ground at Berkeley.

And then there was Shane Bauer of Mother Jones, who justified a mob beating of Trump supporters after they used pepper spray to protect themselves.

We will update on the Berkeley riots as details become available.
