BREAKING: Reports of Shots Fired at Highland High School in California (VIDEO)


Update: a 14-year-old suspect is reportedly in custody. The sheriff’s department confirmed in a tweet (below) that the suspect is a Hispanic juvenile.

ORIGINAL STORY: Los Angeles County Sheriffs are responding to reports of a man with a gun on the campus of Highland High School in Palmdale, California.

Reports say one person is in custody, and may have been apprehended off campus. Police scanner monitors report one person has been shot, possibly in the hand.

Palmdale is located north of Los Angeles, on the northern edge of the Angeles National Forest.

Reports say one person has been shot, while unconfirmed reports on social media say they heard pistol shots and what may have been shotgun or long gun shots.

ABC 7 reported this shortly after the incident.

Authorities on Friday morning were responding to reports of a possible shooting at Highland High School in Palmdale.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said there was no immediate confirmation that shots had been fired at the campus.

Firefighter-paramedics were staging in response to the reports, but no one had been transported from the school as of 7:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
