While so many NFL stars are kneeling to protest the National Anthem and the American Flag, one NFL legend is backing President Donald Trump’s idea of banning the protests and firing anyone who participates.
Former Dallas Cowboys running back Herschel Walker is a Heisman Trophy winner and a college football Hall of Famer. He’s also from southern Georgia and understands the deep-seeded racial prejudice so many are upset about. Walker, however, overcame the odds to become one of the greatest football stars ever, and he is backing the President’s stand on protests.
Walker has a personal connection to Trump; he appeared on The Celebrity Apprentice, and has supported him since he announced his candidacy. In an interview with TMZ Sports, he explains his views.
Walker has been a Trump supporter from the beginning — and while he says they don’t agree on everything, he’s HAPPY Donald is sticking to his guns on the anthem issue.
The ex-NFL superstar says if anyone should fight for Americans to stand up for the flag, it’s the President.
Walker says he’s not trying to minimize the issue of racism in America, or police brutality — in fact, Herschel says he’ll gladly protest WITH activists after the season is over.
But the bottom line for Herschel … the NFL is a business and Roger Goodell needs to keep his workers in line.
Here is the video from TMZ Sports.
The President has not yet responded to Walker’s comments, but do not be surprised if he gets a Twitter shout-out from the White House.
