Another former Democratic elected official is facing time in prison for corruption. This time, it is in Florida.
Former U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown (D-FL), who represented Florida’s 5th congressional district, is facing yet another scandal.
She is now facing 357 years in prison for stealing from the children of her constituents. Brown is accused of using the almost $1 million in donations from her non-profit charity “One Door for Education” for her personal use. She has plead not guilty and is set for trial in April. Her long time chief of staff, Elias Simmons, has plead guilty and is expected to testify against her.
If convicted on all 24 counts, she faces 357 years in prison and $4.8 million in fines.
This isn’t the first time Brown has been accused of wrongdoing. She has face various accusations over the years from forgery to ethics violations. A considerable list of her scandals can be found by clicking here.
Despite years of questionable financial and ethical misdirection, Democrats kept electing Brown, kept putting her in power and kept giving her more money to misappropriate. Other Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton, kept supporting her and working with her despite the scandals. Yet, these same Democrats now want to hold President Trump to a higher standard than they hold for themselves and their own colleagues.
Democrats support a fellow criminal while obstructing the workings of America for their own personal gain.
It sounds like the scandals surrounding Brown is business as usual for Democrats. Faced with this sort of corruption, America must maintain hope that President Trump will persevere. He will persist. He will drain the swamp of the likes of Brown and her dishonest cronies.
