Democrats: Our Party Brand is More “TOXIC” than Donald Trump (VIDEO)

It seems the average person does not care about the Trump – Russia connection. I would also add the lack of evidence and continual drumbeat against President Trump from unnamed sources has run its course. Voters are intelligent people. They know a non-story when they hear one. Democratic Congressman Tim Ryan talked about how “toxic” the Democrats’ brand is – even worse than the President’s brand in many places.

In an interview Wednesday on CNN (shown below), Don Lemon asked him if he thinks Pelosi is more “toxic” than Trump. Ryan has been openly critical of Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in the past, but after the Georgia loss last night, he adamantly told Lemon his party needs to do some soul-searching. Lemon point-blank asked him to explain himself. Ryan went on to say he believes that the Democratic party brand is pretty bad right now, and he worries that after losing a bunch of special elections, the party is becoming too “obsessed and angered by Donald Trump.”

“You know what?” Ryan said. “The honest answer is: in some areas of the country, yes she is. That’s the honest answer.” He added that Democrats need to understand that her leadership might be hurting them in certain places.Chris Murphy a Democrat from Connecticut made some similar comments. He said when he’s back home he sometimes chats with people on a commuter bus, and “they are never talking about issues like Russia. They are not talking frankly, about what’s on cable news at night.”

In fact, in a “Morning Joe” interview on MSNBC, another Democrat took a shot at his own party saying:

“The fact that we have spent so much time talking about Russia has been a distraction from what should be the clear contrast between Democrats and the Trump agenda, which is on economics.”

There it is. Democrats running against Donald Trump didn’t work for Hillary and the Democrats in 2016, and it’s not working now. Democrats losing Tuesday’s special election in Georgia in spite of the $25 million dollars spent there against Karen Handel raises questions for Democrats who thought they would easily win by running against President Trump.  Maybe it is time to accept the results of last November’s election.
