Douchebag New England Patriots player refuses to go to White House to meet Trump

Martellus Bennett

The New England Patriots may be the world champions, but that doesn’t mean they all have a sense of decency or class.

As everyone knows, the team that wins the Super Bowl goes to the White House to be congratulated by the President. This year, however, one of the players will not attend.

Martellus Bennett is known for his mouth more than his athletic ability, and yet he finds himself on the best team in the NFL. Recently, he has used that mouth to criticize President Donald Trump, accusing him of spreading hate and division.

Even before the Super Bowl was played, Bennett made it clear he had no plans to attend a White House ceremony if the Patriots won. He also tweeted about his disdain for President Trump.

USA Today reports on his comments on last Monday’s Super Bowl media day.

Asked about the tweets on Monday night, Bennett didn’t shy away from the subject. Or his feelings on Trump; if the Patriots win the Super Bowl, Bennett doubts he’d go to the White House because, “I don’t support the guy that’s in the house.”

After the Super Bowl ended Sunday night, Bennett again made it clear he was not going to the White House.

Yahoo Sports reports.

“It is what it is. People know how I feel about it,” he said, via Dallas Morning-News. “Just follow me on Twitter.”

Bennett has used his social media account to express his negativity toward Trump. But is there a conflict of interest considering Bennett’s quarterback (Tom Brady), head coach Bill Belichick and — most important — Patriots team owner (Robert Kraft) all have been claimed by the president as close, personal friends?

“I’m not really worried about that,” Bennett said. “I’m not worried about it at all.”

Bennett said the Patriots manage to circumvent any awkwardness in the locker room by sticking to sports.

“You just don’t bring that to work,” he said. “We all have our beliefs. We accept people for who they are.”

And yet Bennett doesn’t have plans to accept Trump for who he is, if his words are to be taken at face value. We wonder if Kraft might step in and convince him otherwise. But then again, Brady skipped out on going to the White House two years ago when the Patriots won it and Barack Obama was president.

It may come down to Martellus Bennett vs. Tom Brady as to who dictates how the team carries itself. It so, Patriots owner Robert Kraft has an easy decision.
