FLASHBACK: The Media Didn’t Care When Obama Sold Out To Russia in 2012

Obama Russia

Remember the media outrage back in 2012, when Barack Obama was caught on a live microphone making secret promises to Russia? Yeah, neither do we.

It seems every week, Democrats and the mainstream media try out a new set of talking points in an effort to undermine the Presidency of Donald Trump. First, it was the popular vote argument. Then, it was the fake news argument. Neither talking point, however, managed to pick up any traction.

Instead, the media has found a new obsession. A new way to turn Donald Trump into a villain: Russia. Using reports of his past business ties to Russia, the media has made a possible conflict of interest into a full-blown scandal. All without any real proof. Reports of possible Russian interference in the election has only inflamed the mania.

However, in 2012, Barack Obama actually bowed to Russian interests, and it was all caught on tape. In March of that year, while running for reelection, Obama told Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to tell incoming President Vladimir Putin that he will be more “flexible” towards Russia after the election.

While the media tries to manufacture a conflict of interest over Donald Trump, they ignored a blatant instance of selling out to Russia by Barack Obama.

CNS News reported on the “hot mike” exchange.

Obama told Medvedev it was important for incoming President Vladimir Putin to “give me space” on missile defense and other difficult issues and that after the 2012 presidential election he would have “more flexibility.” Medvedev said he would “transmit” the message to Putin.

“On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this can be solved, but it’s important for him to give me space,” Obama told Medvedev at a gathering in Seoul, South Korea.

“Yeah, I understand,” said Medvedev, who was about to replaced by Putin as Russian president. “I understand your message about space. Space for you–”

“This is my last election,” Obama said. “After my election I have more flexibility.”

“I understand,” Medvedev said. “I will transmit this information to Vladimir.”

As expected, Putin easily won the election to replace Medvedev as president on March 4, 2012. Twenty-two days later, on March 26, 2012, Obama urged Medvedev to pass on the “flexibilty” message to Putin.

Here’s the video of the event.

There was not a single word from the media about the implications from this kind of behavior from a sitting President. Obama showed himself to be weak and eager to please. As a result, Putin took aggressive moves around the world, including taking Crimea. Obama, however, let it all happen without a firm response.

Remember, at the same time this was going on, Mitt Romney was warning about the dangers the world faced from an empowered Russia. Democrats and the media, however, ridiculed him for having a “Cold War” mentality. Today, they are taking the “Cold War” paranoid rhetoric to a new level. It’s all because they want to use it against Donald Trump.

The irony is thick.
