Guess Who Is Really Behind the Photo of Caged Immigrant Children (HINT: Not Trump)

Barack Obama

The Democrats’ fervor to pin something – anything – on President Donald Trump has backfired yet again, and this time, it hit their Chosen One, hard.

It started over the Memorial Day weekend, when a photo of detained immigrant children in an Arizona ICE facility started making the rounds on social media. It showed two immigrants children sleeping on the floor inside a cell made of fencing.

It was a truly sad and disgusting sight to see children treated this way, regardless of their citizenship status. However, the picture was circulated as an attempt to criticize President Donald Trump over his immigration policies, as well as capitalize on a story that ICE “lost” about 1,500 children in their system. That claim also turned out to be a gross over-exaggeration, but the story behind the picture did not reflect well on former President Barack Obama.

As it turns out, the picture is from 2014, during the Obama administration – and was a common occurrence during his time in office. You can see the original picture, from an Arizona news website in 2014, by clicking here.

The Daily Caller reports.

Shaun King, Linda Sarsour and other liberals thought they were criticizing the Trump administration on Sunday when they tweeted a picture of immigrant minors sleeping in a caged enclosure, but it turned out they were inadvertently tweeting a photo that occurred during the Obama administration instead.

In an apparent attempt to criticize the Trump administration’s treatment of unaccompanied children at the U.S. border with Mexico, former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau tweeted a link to an AZCentral.com article entitled “First glimpse of immigrant children at holding facility.”

“This is happening right now, and the only debate that matters is how we force our government to get these kids back to their families as fast as humanly possible,” Favreau wrote in a now-deleted tweet, which included a disturbing image of two immigrant minors sleeping in a caged enclosure.

But the Arizona Central article was from 2014 — during Barack Obama’s presidency.

Here is Shaun King’s tweet, which has not been deleted, and by omission of fact, still implies Trump is behind it.

Others, however, have either deleted their tweets or added some “clarifications.”

None of the celebrities that helped to spread the photo have called on former President Obama to explain why this was allowed to happen for years during his presidency.
