John McCain to End Treatment for Brain Cancer, Family Announces (VID)

Sen. John McCain is entering his final days and has chosen to end treatment for aggressive brain cancer, his afamily announced today.

In a statement released to the press (and included in full below) the family said “John has surpassed expectations for his survival.” He has chosen, rather than continue debilitating treatments, to focus on his famly rather than the “aggressive glioblastoma” that he has been fighting since last year.

“With his usual strength of will, he has now chosen to discontinue medical treatment,” the family said.

McCain has represented Arizona in the Senate and House of Representatives for 35 years. The cancer has made it impossible for him to be at the U.S. Capitol. He also had surgery for an intestinal infection in April.
