The election of President Trump seems to have paved the way for other non-career politicians to run for office. America is sick of political leeches and ready to elect lawmakers who understand the will of the people. Just ask Kid Rock, who wants to be the next Senator from Michigan. A new poll proves his candidacy is no joke.
According to a poll by the Trafalgar Group, singer Kid Rock is a very viable candidate for the Senate seat currently held by Democrat Debbie Stabenow. This is the second report of a poll that showed results in favor of the rock star, however, the first was determined to be a hoax. This poll, however, was done by the polling firm that was one of the few to actually predict the win of President Trump.
Not that we needed any other motivation other than watching our elected representatives do whatever they wanted, but it seems the voters in Michigan are ready to ditch Stabenow and give Kid Rock a try.
Via Daily Caller:
Popular musician Kid Rock, real name Robert Ritchie, has been flirting with a Senate run in Michigan and a poll out Friday shows him far ahead in the Republican primary and within the margin of error in the general election.
Ritchie has yet to decide whether to run for office, and released a statement on Wednesday about all the speculation in which he announced he is starting a non-profit group to encourage voter registration.
“One thing is for sure though…The democrats are ‘shattin’ in their pantaloons’ right now…and rightfully so!,” Richie said in the statement. “We will be scheduling a press conference in the next 6 weeks or so to address this issue amongst others, and if I decide to throw my hat in the ring for US Senate, believe me… it’s game on mthrfkers.”
The poll released by Trafalgar Group shows that indeed it will be “game on” if Ritchie runs. The musician leads among potential Republican candidates with 49.62 percent. In second is “undecided” with 28.10 percent.
In a general election match-up, Democratic incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow leads with 43.37 percent and Ritchie is at 41.17 percent. However, when including voters who are leaning towards either candidate, Ritchie leads with 48.6 percent and Stabenow is at 46.09 percent.
The poll was conducted between July 25 and July 27. There were 1078 respondents and it has a margin of error of 3.06 percent.
So the question becomes, would Kid Rock make a good Senator? Well the proof, as they say, is in the pudding, but we know he’s conservative, and we know he’s willing. These days, those are the top qualities that many are looking for in their Republican candidates.
Usually lawmakers are lawyers, since it seems to help when they already know the law inside and out. However, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that the singer could just hire a few lawyers to be on his staff and consult with them on the sticky issues. Washington seems to be crawling with lawyers who know the law so well that they know how to circumvent the intent, and that’s not what we’re paying them to do.
Even if he were not as educated on the historical merit of an issue presented to him as a lawmaker, any person who approaches the subject with the intent to be true to his constituents and honor the Constitution is better than someone who’s been paid off or looking to climb a ladder above all else.
