President Trump was busy on Twitter Thursday morning, tweeting about everything from the fake news media to the debt ceiling. He did, however, make the time to send a message to former President Barack Obama.
Trump retweeted a meme from a follower showing him “eclipsing” Obama, in a hilarious nod to the recent solar eclipse. It was tweeted by Jerry Travone as a response to one of the President’s tweets this morning, and the Commander-in-Chief obviously saw it and approved. The meme itself had been circulating on social media since the eclipse, but this is the first time the President acknowledged it.
Here’s a screenshot of the the retweet.
Don’t be surprised if someone now says the meme is racist.
Wait – never mind. It already happened. Thanks, Laura Diaz, for reminding us how easily triggered liberals can be. Just a few minutes after the President retweeted the meme, she responded with “Well THAT’S not racist at all! *sarcasm*”
The President seems to have no problem retweeting at will, even though Democrats and the media use the practice to criticize him. They seem to miss the point that this sort of direct, off-the-cuff interaction and input from the President appeals to many voters. Although it can backfire for him at times, removing that wall between the people and their leader can be a good thing for democracy.
