A star of the shows “Prison Break” and “Chicago Fire” died suddenly Friday after having an apparent heart attack.

DuShon Monique Brown died Friday in Chicago, just hours after she was sent home from the hospital after experiencing chest pains. Brown made her mark as an actress by playing Nurse Katie during the first two seasons of “Prison Break.” She has had a recurring role as Connie on the hit NBC show “Chicago Fire.”

Before she took up acting, Brown was a school guidance counselor.

Chicago Fire star DuShon Monique Brown has passed away.

The 49-year-old actress died after an apparent cardiac episode, according to TMZ.

The star, who was also known for her recurring role in Prison Break, admitted herself to a Chicago hospital earlier this week suffering from chest pains.

She was released a short time later, but things took a turn for the worst on Friday and she died after a cardiac episode.

Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed she had passed away a little after noon at St. James Olympia Field Hospital.
