A “transgender man” is a proud new papa after giving birth to a healthy baby boy. Of course, he needed to use the lady parts given to him by God at birth, but that’s not relevant in today’s PC world. So we’ve been told.
The birth happened in Portand, Oregon (of course) to Trystan Reese, born a woman but now identifying as a man. He did, however, keep all the necessary anatomy to have a baby.
Even though Reese is essentially female (save for some facial hair and male characteristics brought on by taking testosterone), this local television news station decided that this “transgender dad” having a baby is essential news. And yet here we are, reporting on their reporting.
According to KATU-TV, Trystan Reese, who was born a woman and now identifies as a man, gave birth to a boy, Leo, two weeks ago. It is the first biological child for Reese and his husband, Biff Chaplow. The couple also has two adopted children.
“I would say it’s unique,” Reese told KATU. “I understand that people are not used to two men having a biological child between the two of them. So we know its unique.”
“The moment he was born was just like a pure moment of bliss, like the happiest moment of my life. To see the very beginning of Leo, of his life, was just like amazing,” Chaplow said.
According to KATU, Leo was Reese’s first successful pregnancy. Reese had previously had a miscarriage.
Reese began taking testosterone pills nearly a decade ago as he transitioned from woman to man but said he stopped taking them months prior to becoming pregnant in order to safely carry a child.
Perhaps the strangest part of this story is Reese’s reaction to the idea of even having a child. He seemed surprised when the doctor told him that he could have a child, and acted as if it was some sort of medical miracle. Remember: he never physically transitioned. He is still anatomically female.
“Every doctor that we spoke with said, ‘Absolutely, this is possible; absolutely, this is a safe and healthy medical decision to make.’ We know it’s not traditional, but we hope that people will see that this is just another way how love shows up in the world,” Reese told KATU.
Did this gal never go to biology class?
