At a New Year’s Eve Gala at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, the President told reporters gathered outside on the red carpet that 2018 would be a “tremendous” year.

While in Florida, the President called troops deployed overseas, met with various politicians, and played golf. He also posted a number of tweets, including wishing a Happy New Year to his haters.

The gala guests included Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and his wife, actress Louise Linton, casino magnate Steve Wynn and Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt.

In his comments to reporters, the President highlighted the rising stock market and tax reform as victories in his first year in office. “The country, by the way, is doing great. We just got our taxes cut,” he said. “We got jobs pouring into the country. Europe isn’t too happy with us because a lot of people are moving back into the United States. A lot of money is coming in.”

The President called out the regime in Iran, which is facing massive protests from citizens in recent days. “Iran is failing at every level despite the terrible deal made with them by the Obama Administration. The great Iranian people have been repressed for many years. They are hungry for food & for freedom. Along with human rights, the wealth of Iran is being looted. TIME FOR CHANGE,” he tweeted.
