Illegals Surge on Mexican – Texas Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials announced the opening of an additional holding facility in south Texas to deal with the massive surge of illegal immigrants continuing to flood across the Mexican border. The facility will be built near the Donna-Rio Bravo International Bridge in Donna, Texas, according to Breitbart, and will hold up to 500 people.

On Friday, Breitbart Texas reported a 37 percent increase in Family Unit Alien apprehensions in October. That same month saw a 19 percent increase in Unaccompanied Alien Children apprehensions. Total border apprehensions increased by 17 percent along the southwestern border between Mexico and the U.S. These statistics were reported by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson Thursday evening.

Those individuals are waiting for transfer to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to the Customs and Border Protection report on KGBT. Agents have seen a surge in the numbers of Family Unit Aliens (FMUA) and Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) in the past two months.

Jeh Johnson said the flood of immigrants has increased the population in detention facilities to 41,000. This represents an increase of 7,000 to 10,000 people on average. “I have authorized Immigration and Customs Enforcement to acquire additional detention space for single adults so those apprehended at the border can be returned to their home countries as soon as possible,” the DHS secretary stated.

“The smugglers learned in 2014 they could tie up Border Patrol agents as babysitters and keep us from our primary mission – stopping illegal border crossings and drug smuggling,” U.S. Border Patrol Agent Chris Cabrera says in his capacity as president of National Border Patrol Council Local 3307 in an interview on October 26. “When are we going to get back on the border?” During an interview on The Laura Ingraham Show, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Chris Cabrera said Obama’s administration circumvents federal immigration laws.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently announced these plans to build a temporary facility in South Texas to house illegal immigrants crossing the border because the Obama administration the is actively trying to ‘circumvent their own laws’

They don’t seem to take it seriously. They seem to look at immigration violations like a traffic ticket, that it’s not really a big deal to them. And it is a big deal, especially for the fact that there are a lot of people coming across with criminal history in the United States,” Cabrera said.

Cabrera revealed that around 500-800 illegal aliens are caught crossing the border every day but are quickly released because of the Obama administration’s catch-and-release policy. This policy essentially ignores immigration laws and grants illegal aliens the right to remain in the country.

The border agent also claimed that only an estimated 50-60% of all illegal border crossers are successfully caught each day. The Obama administration is secretly delaying deportations for several years. It seems as if now that President Elect Trump is sure to be the incoming President the Obama administration in conjunction with DHS has opened the flood gates of illegals. That’s according to a bombshell report from The New York Times, which interviewed some of the Department of Homeland Security employees as well as immigration judges and lawyers. These are the failure this administration has when it comes to enforcing our immigration laws. It is more like non enforcement.

This includes timely placement of GPS tracking anklets on illegal immigrants, to make certain they will show up on their day in court. ATD is an effective and cost-saving method of ensuring illegal immigrants show up at the court hearings—when enforced correctly.

The Department of Homeland Security’s digitization of immigration records and processes is well overdue. And Homeland Security should be reporting honest statistics to Congress and the American people regarding how effective

Delayed deportations, cause wrongly granted citizenship, and hiding statistics compromise our immigration system. There is no excuse for such negligence and failure.
