The United States Air Force dispatched a nuclear sniffer aircraft earlier today, amid the possibility of Kim Jong Un’s new nuclear weapons test.
Yonhap News, South Korea’s largest news agency, has the latest coverage:
“SEOUL, April 20 (Yonhap) — The U.S. Air Force dispatched a nuclear sniffer aircraft Thursday to the east of the Korean Peninsula amid the possibility of North Korea’s imminent nuclear test, a government source said.”
” ‘The WC-135 Constant Phoenix, a special-purpose U.S. plane, made an emergency sortie today over the East Sea,’ the source said, requesting anonymity.”
“Its mission is to collect samples from the atmosphere in order to detect and identity a nuclear explosion.”
“It arrived at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, early this month amid indications that the North is preparing for another nuclear test.”
“Thursday’s flight appears meant to check whether the secretive communist nation has detonated a nuclear bomb.”
“It also tests operational readiness in the event of an actual provocation by the North, added the source.”
“There was an unconfirmed rumor that North Korea has notified China of its nuclear experiment plan.”
“South Korea’s military said earlier the North seems all set to conduct what would be its sixth nuclear test at its Punggye-ri site in its northeastern region anytime on the leadership’s decision.”
This is all that Yonhap had to report, but NBC among other sources have also reported on the occurrence. President Trump is taking a very pro-active stance against North Korea, which is absolutely essential.
Tyrannical psychopaths like Kim Jong Un don’t respond to negotiation or logic. The only thing that they respond to is sheer force of will, and the threat of violence. Thankfully, we have a highly competent Secretary of Defense (Mattis) in office, and a very pro-American president who’s ready to put North Korea in their place.
NBC News reveals more information:
“Two U.S. intelligence officials told NBC News that North Korea is in a position to conduct a nuclear test with little or no warning.”
” ‘We expect that they are able to do it at any time, without any real warning,” one official said. “They have been engaging in steady preparations.’ ”
“The officials would neither confirm nor deny that the U.S. has detected signs that a test is imminent.”
“Three U.S. military officials said the Chinese military is currently on a higher alert as part of a nationwide exercise. The exercise is defensive in nature and not focused on the region near North Korea.”
“During a Thursday press conference with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, President Trump called North Korea a ‘menace.’ He answered a reporter’s question about instability in North Korea by praising China’s president and China’s actions in the region.”
” ‘As far as North Korea is concerned, we are in very good shape,” said Trump. “I respect [President Xi Jinping] very much, and I think he’s working very hard… Some very unusual moves have been made over the past two or three hours and I really have confidence that the president will try very hard.’ “
Although the threat of North Korea may seem like a bad thing, it’s definitely serving to strengthen ties between the US and Chinese governments. Although we both have our differences, and Trump has lambasted China for quite a few wrong-doings, we’re both against a mentally unstable Kim Jong Un possessing nuclear weapons.
